Putting lotion on your face increases acne?
If you are using regular lotion, like hand lotion, on your face, it could definitely cause you to break out. Instead, you need to use a moisturizer to counter-act the unwanted dry skin caused by your acne medication. Moisturizers don't contain the same ingredients lotions do. You might have to try several before you find one that works well on your skin.

I have very sensitive skin. If I use the wrong moisturizer I will break out in less than 12 hours. I have found that water-based moisturizes work best for me.

Good luck!
Reply:Depends on the lotion...

I think the purpose of those acne creams is to dry out your skin and get rid of the excess oils that might be causing it, so I imagine that putting the lotion on your face is making it greasy again.

But like I said.. depends on the lotion. If there's heaps of chemicals and additives in the lotion, it will aggrevate your skin/acne. The purer the ingredients, the better the lotion is for your skin.
Reply:How ' bout tryin' Glycerine water with Lemon juice???
Reply:If its not an oil free lotion it will clog the pores. Look for an oil free, fragrant free lotion to use. Its less likely to make your acne worse. CeraVe is the name of the product a dermotologist recommended for me.
Reply:Acne medicine is supposed to dry ur skin. Action of lotion depends on ur type of skin. It's best to see a dermatologist before it becomes worse.
Reply:i think so. . . but you can ask the doctor about it!!!
Reply:to prevent acne maybe you should clean your face at least twice a day. You can also do a facial twice a week, it depends on your skin type whether it is dry of oily.
Reply:yes, the best way to get rid of acne is to sauna at least 3 times per week for 15 min,and drink at least 3lt of water per day.

try it,you'll notice a diffrence ithin 2 weeks
Reply:It can block/clog your pores.

Go to a store and get a moisturizer instead of putting lotion on it.

That's what I do and I like that a lot better than lotion... it doesn't feel as greasy.
Reply:a lot of the regular lotions out there contain oil, so using it on your face would clog your pores. i suggest something oil-free and fragrant free. Try moisturizers from Biore or Clean and Clear, they also have spf. :)
Reply:If the cleanser your using now makes your skin go dry then id change cleanser, i use biore pore perfect facial scrub and i dont need any moisturiser with it. If you dont want to change cleanser then maybe try a different moisturiser. Something for dry skin.

Also make sure you use a toner aswell after cleansing.

Good luck
Reply:acne is caused by oily skin and clogged pores soap and water are best and cheapest.... keep the hair out of your face.. wash your hair frequently to reduce oil and germs if this is not working ... you may need a dermatologist (or maybe your family doctor can help).. and antibiotic therapy... if it drying out your skin ( which is what you want ) but too much .... use less frequently or try a milder medicine .....I would think lotion is oily and would worsen the condition not help
