My makeup makes my face look dry and peely!!!!?

What is a good makeup that won't make my face look like it is peeling and flaky? My face will look fine, then, even if i moisturize, as soon as i put on the powder foundation, my face suddenly looks like it is peeling. Help!

My makeup makes my face look dry and peely!!!!?
It sounds as if you are using the wrong type of foundation for your skin type (powder foundations accentuate dry skin-not a good thing obviously). Before you put any makeup on, you should try exfoliating (like with St. Ives Gentle Scrub) and then use a moisturizer.

Then try a liquid or cream to powder foundation.

Here is a website that explains how to choose the best foundation for your skin type:

Reply:Ditch the make up! go all natural with a touch of moisturizer and lip gloss
Reply:Your problem is not your makeup.. Its your face.. if it looks dry and flaky.. it means your face is too dry for makeup. You need to use a really good moisturizer before you put on your make up.. something with a good SPF to protect your face from the sun.. Oil of Olay daily complete moisturizer is a great product.. I use the sensitive skin but their face lotion is a great moisturizer and it doesn't make your face feel oilily.. So overall it doesn't matter what kind of make up you use, it all depends on your face.. dont use foundation if you dont need it, plus foundation has more oils in it then powder and that's not what you want to use.. Stick with the powder..
Reply:It is the powder settling into what is microscopic lines, right now. Use liquid or skip the foundation altogether.
Reply:I find that a moisturizer helps a little bit in my case.
Reply:before applying makeup always start with a clean face..try using St. Ives Apricot scrub it will scrub away any left over dry skin that may be causing this..
Reply:Mineral makeup will help you, but choose a good quality and pure one like Everyday Minerals at everydayminerals.com. These minerals are pure and heal your skin. Try this brand's Intensive Formula. Since using this, I have received so many compliments on my skin-
Reply:don't use powder foundation. if you don't have absolutely flawless skin, which most people don't almost everyone has flaws, it will make your face look cakey. or atleast don't use powder by itself, if you must use it, use it on top of a cream or liquid foundation for a more even looking complexion.
Reply:Another more foolproof method I tried once was going to the mall department store makeup counter. They have consultants you can make an appointment with who will answer your questions and even show you how to apply and what so that you get the best look. You just tell them what kind of look you're actually going for (photos, night life, work,etc.).

Or there are also independent beauty consultants who do demonstrations of their products and would be more than willing to turn you on to what they're selling.
Reply:Check if the foundation is 2 way cake that means that the powder should be compressed. If it is compressed and still giving your problem, then change your foundation. I myself prefer compressed coz it's alot faster. Ask the ladies to let you try on before you make the purchase. If your face isn't the oily or combination type, you can try liquid foundation, but this means that you can't use pressed powder for later touch ups.

:) Good Luck~
Reply:Dont use powder foundation, try use a liquid foundation with SPF, so your skin will not be that dry
Reply:Ah, yes, that used to happen to me all the time too!

First you need to exfoliate, gently. A good natural scrub that I use it raw sugar, with a little honey and olive oil, it works really well on me.

Then you put your favorite moisturizer on, you can even use a little bit of olive oil for that too. Wait a little for it to set in before putting your make-up on.

A good foundation is the mineral loose powders. I use Physicians Formula, but Bare Escentuals works pretty well too, it's just a bit costly. Just be sure that it does not contain talc!

I really hope this works for you!

Good luck!
Reply:Motives makeup, by a company called Market America is excellent. Better than the department store brands.
Reply:u have to put on moisturizer on first, and than the make up
