I've heard conflicting results on this. I've always used Neutrogena Oil-free acne wash to wash my face morning and night. Now I've been hearing that salicylic acid (topical) is dangerous to use when pregnant. Some websites said it was okay in small amounts, and others said to avoid it altogether. I'm almost 11 weeks pregnant, and am not sure what to use instead. Anyone have any suggestions as to safe oil-free face washes that help with acne? I don't have terrible skin, but I get a few breakouts here and there. I can't use anything that isn't oil-free on my skin though.
Is acne face wash safe during pregnancy?
I think you're paranoid.
I also think Neutrogena tortures animals in toxicity tests.
Reply:I think its fine.
I use it and Im doing great.
My advice to you? Dont leave it on long enough for large amounts to be soaked up(5+ minutes).. washing off completely and dont inhale deeply.
Otherwise, youre fine, Im fine, and any other woman wanting to wash her face is fine.
Reply:i heard sea salt works wonders..
Reply:yes
Reply:Are you serious?!!! I can't wash my face either?! I'm not liking this pregnancy stuff too much anymore. I feel like I'm being strangely punished. No more tuna salad, no more lattes, no more motrin, no more diet pepsi, now I can't wash my face?! I wish I would've known before I agreed to have three kids.
Reply:Its okay to use. When i first got pregnant i had a huge acne problem and i couldnt stand it so i use Clean and Clear Advantage, it comes in a 3 pack at wal-mart its like 20 bucks, it has a cleanser a moisturizer and a spot treatment in it. if you use it twice a week it wont hurt you because it only has 0.5% of salicylic acid in it, and thats in the moisturizer. Which works awesome. It works great it makes your face feel minty lol and you only have to use the spot treatment when you have really bad breakouts. Good Luck to you!
Reply:I've been using Neutrogena Oil-free acne wash for years. Used it through my first pregnancy and now with my second. How exactly does it harm the baby? My doctor has not mention anything about the seriousness of using certain types of face wash. I'm not too concerned about it since my first born is growing healthy and I have no complications with my current pregnancy. Best source would be to consult your doctor.
Reply:The FDA has said that it can not say that any drug whether prescription, or over the counter is safe during pregnancy.
I know there are a lot of hormone reasons why people get acne, but one thing you can try is laying off the meat products, and eating more nuts and beans for protein. It has been proven that eating an all vegetarian diet makes your skin clearer....a lot clearer.
Reply:I don't see why not.
Reply:I use the Neutrogena Oil-Free face wash(the orange stuff right?) I've used it through my last 2 pregnancies including this one, and my babies have been just fine. I even asked my dr about it, but surprisingly she didn't know anything about it(of course she doesn't know much about anything hence why she's on administrative leave now)
Reply:yeah its safe i use noxzema and its fine my doctor told me
Reply:yes u can use watever products u want as long as it doesn't contain tretinoin and benzol peroxide but if u want a specific brand use body shop tea tree facial anything herbal willdo or u can just wash ur face with luke warm water to be 100% safe. My mum had her second baby 3 yers ago and she only washed her face with johnson facial wash mild and gentle!
Reply:Hi!
I have pretty good skin but when I got pregnant, I started getting horrible break out! You shouldn't use anything with salicylic acid or peroxide either. That doesn't leave much, does it! My doctor recommended just a basic nuetrogena. They have a few that don't contian either of those ingredients. I use a the Nuetrogena bar soap that is for acne prone skin. It works pretty well.
Good luck! And Congrats!
