My babys face is very dry? 7 weeks old?

he has red tiny spots on his face which are rough and raised to the touch and slightly yellowly in places, also they carry on down his neck and chest slightly, but mainly on both cheeks and ears, behind ears. His skin is so dry he must have scratched it today as hes got a tiny cut now on his face. I only use water to wash him as he has sensitive skin and i dont use any perfumed products or creams ect. Any idea what this may be?

My babys face is very dry? 7 weeks old?
why don't you olive oil that is really good for baby's dry skin or get aqueous cream it is dermatological cream for dry skin also it is non perfumed. you can get from your gp or from boots.
Reply:It's probably milk spots. If you're really worried take him to see your GP.

Here's something you can do that doesn't involve perfumed products or anything chemical (and it works!), get a clean pair of old tights (or a sheet of muslin), cut off one of the feet from the tights and take a handful of porridge oats and put it either in the tights or in the middle of the muslin. Then either tie a knot in the end of the foot of the tights or tie up the muslin sheet so the oats can't get out. Then you hold it under the tap when running the bay's bath or just put it in the bath. It produces this soothing serum that works wonders for dry skin, and it's totally natural. You can use it at any age (I use it myself if I ever get dry skin and I have friends with kids with eczema who do it too) and it really works! Try it, it sounds weird but it's brilliant.
Reply:How often are you bathing him? Babies don't need baths everyday, especially if they have sensitive/dry skin. It will only dry his skin more. Even if you are only using water, the water will wash away some of the natural oils in his skin. My dermatologist recommended Cetaphil soap and lotion because it is very mild. It's not sold in the baby section, but by the facial cleansers %26amp; lotions. Target carries their version of it as well, which is significantly less expensive then the name brand. I use the cleanser for my face because I have dry skin. I've only used the lotion on my daughter after her bath, but it did help. Also, if you think he is scratching, put the little mittens on his hands to prevent that. Good luck.
Reply:Infant acne I have heard of this but since my child is not here just yet I have not experienced it. Ask his doctor for something for his skin other then that use baby lotion for sensitive skin.

found a link for you on infant acne
Reply:The yellow patches could be cradle cap. Its usually associated with the scalp but can occur on other body parts. There are several ways to treat it, but it does go away on its own. It doesn't hurt the child if you don't treat it either. Its caused by overactive sebaceous glands in the skin of newborns.

As far as some being red? That might be need medical attention. That could be some sort of infection.

I have posted a link with more detailed information about cradle crap, treatment and when to be concerned. Of course, the best answer you can get is from your pediatrician. If your unsure or still concerned, speak with the nurse or make an appointment.
Reply:it could be milk spots... try putting a bit of baby oil in the bath water to cure the dry skin its ok 2 use on sentative skin
Reply:Sounds like baby acne to me which is very common in newborns. It is just hormones from you and can last several months. Do not pop or poke or scratch at them as it will only make it worse. Not putting any lotions or creams on it is a good idea as well as it may irritate it a little more.
Reply:This sounds very much like milk spots. They will come and go over the first few weeks. As for the dry skin try use silcocks base. It is a non perfumed medicated cream that takes away dryness. It can also be used as a soap so you don't need to worry about finding soap that will not cause a reaction.

It also works well on mommys too!
Reply:don't worry both my children had it.its just milk spots. but with it being very dry take him to your GP they will give you some oilatum you add it to his bath it really moistens the skin. i still use it as my 2 boys have bad dry skin with it.hope he feels better soon we man
Reply:Its normal for babies at the 6 week mark to get a rash on their face, and for them to have terribly dry skin. Its caused by hormones, as their bodies have less of yours in them, and start to produce their own.

You can use some fragrance free baby lotion on him if you want or some baby oil, but generally just leaving it alone is the best bet.

If you're really concerned ask your doctor about it. If he has a fever with this head for the ER.
Reply:I have a 6 week old with the exact same thing. I have been told that it is the result of hormones (like many others have posted). My Mother was worried that it was the laundry soap we were using, so I made sure to use ivory. I am also using a little baby lotion on his ears they are particularly bad!) and it seems to be helping.
Reply:I asked this question a few weeks ago too, my baby is now 11 weeks old. Although everyone gave me advice, I ended up going to the doctor. He said that I was right to come in as the spots and dry skin were quite angry looking. My son had scratched himself too and I can only assume that he was becoming quite itchy. He told me to do this:

1: Only use water to wash him, no bubbles or shampoo

2: Use Oilatum Jnr in his bath, a couple of capfuls, this has a soap to it that's why you don't need any others

3: He gave me some Hydrocortizone cream to use 2 times a day

4: He also gave me some emulsifying ointment to moisturise him twice daily too

After a couple of days I had a nice smooth, pale pink baby instead of a red Brillo pad!

I now only use the moisturiser after his bath at night. Good Luck, you have my sympathy, but it will get better!!! Honest! Gxx
Reply:its possibly a rash, take your baby to the doctor just incase and put baby moisterising lotion on it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6J4idh4rt...
Reply:You baby may have eczema. My son have the same thing and it comes and goes. Maybe you should have your pediatrician prescribe hydrocortisone cream to be applied. In addition make sure you pat dry him properly and use Aveeno Baby Products. They work really well with eczema.
Reply:olive oil is good. My baby had very dry skin behind ears and doctor prescribed hydracortizone cream. (not sure if thats spealt right.) absolutely NO baby oil or baby lotion as its all full of chemicals!!!!!!!!

As someone said before Aqueouse cream is good and you can just add it too bath water.
Reply:i remember when my nice and nephew had it it was infant eczema - not very nice they cried a lot poor tykes. she just used lots of E45
Reply:Its perfectly normal for him to have some spots on his face, they can be milk spots or due to the fact that his skin is extra sensitive at his age. If his skin is really dry the very best thing to use is good quality olive oil. Just rub a tiny amount onto the area and after a few applications his skin will be soft and smooth. I did this with my first son and his skin ended up being soft and lovely and spot free. I hope this helps!
Reply:sounds a bit like a rash my son had when he was first born although his rash was on his bottom called erythema toxicum although normally it clears up within a wk or two and your babys 7 wks old....i propably put this down as milk spots .just to be on the safe side i would get it checked out by gp

Moisturize the face?

Why do alot of people suggest to moisturize your face with lotion before you put foundation, and all that fun stuff on your face?

Moisturize the face?
because its a good thing 2 start off w/, and it goes right on 2 ur face, not thru layers of foundation. its a good base.

If you wash your face with a bar soap .. were should you keep it ???

i wash my face with a bar soap that is meant for acne and all that it has been working well but i am one of those girls who is really scared of having germs get onto my face and my hands so i constantly put hand sanitizer on and i was wondering were should i keep the face bar soap i have kept it into a plastic bag but my mom says not to do that and i dont want to keep it on the sink because thats probably germy so what should i do?

If you wash your face with a bar soap .. were should you keep it ???
Keep it on a drainable soap holder in a cabinet by the sink. You don't want to put it in a soap dish where it can sit in water because of bacteria, and you want to keep it closed up in a cabinet because of when you flush the toilet (same with you toothbrush), you don't want that bacteria getting on it. But wash your hands with anti-bacterial soap before using a bar soap. Most people think they can just use the bar soap to take care of their hand germs, but that can definately make you break out.
Reply:buy one of those little soap dishes for your own personal use.
Reply:Something with slots on the bottom of it so the excess water can drain off it. Like this:

There are less expensive types, that is just the first picture I found. :)

Discolorations of face, neck and chest?

I can say my original skin tone is lightish brown but about some years ago i noticed the sides of my face got really dark(centre is light) and dark circles on my neck, and few dark discolorations on my chest but everywhere else is lightish brown as i said.

I can say i have learnt about sun exposure now and so on, never used it in my whole life until now (sunscreen) but is there anything i can do to lighten/remove the dark marks on my face down to my chest without that chemical (hydroquinone or something ). Thanks

Oh also, i had been putting on a lot of weight so i hope losing them might help.

Discolorations of face, neck and chest?
This natural treatment has worked wonders for many people and if you research my Best Answers you will find some of them. It´s a permanent cure and it´s safe, low cost and uses natural products that are beneficial to the skin. Before using any commercail products you need to do web searches to see if they have harmful ingredients. YOU WILL FIND MANY HAVE..

Use an organic or natural oil - olive oils work really well - and massage with a quite strong, vigorous motion (that is the key to it working) - better at night as initially it makes skin flushed. You will find you can make it more vigorous as you progress. Skin is always shedding and renewing, the massaging friction hastens a fresh, clearer skin to emerge. Initially, the skin has to adjust and if soreness, breakouts or other reactions happen - skin might expel poisons that need to be expelled - then stop and resume when you can. You have to find the pace that works for you - it's different for every person. In about a week, depending on how vigorously you have been able to make the massage - you should see noticable results. Keep up the massage routine after that and in a few weeks your skin will completely clear. I had countless skin problems - various discolorations, sun damaged skin, dry flaking skin, blackheads, many types of scars and even moles.and this treatment completely and quickly got rid of them all. Some skin clinics may tell you to only massage gently but this treatment has only been beneficial to the many who have tried it.

Reply:I have a similar problem. Try aloe vera gel..you can buy the plant and grow it yourself, or just get the gel from health stores. Aloe vera is a natural healer and is very effective on spots, scars, marks and is even good 4 your hair.

Use Aloe Vera as a soap..or you can use it as a facial mask. Just put it on your face for 30 minutes everyday and wash it off. You will feel a tingling sensation, but this is natural.

What's with my face?

I always seem to be getting small pimples on my face, and most of them aren't noticable. It's not acne. And it isn't from the week before my period, either since I get them all the time.

I don't knwo what causes them, but I don't know how to prevent them or make them go away faster, either. Ugh!

I don't have dry or oily skin right now, since it's cooling off and there's always humidity where I live. I don't over or under wash my face (every day, twice a day in the shower and to remove make-up). I don't eat very much fast food or drink a lot of soda. I do wear make-up (Wet N' Wild foundation and loose powder from Avon) and that's just to cover the crap up! :(

If anyone knows some good face washes and moisurizers, it would help a lot. Please don't leave me lame or immature answers.

Thanks!

What's with my face?
Right after you wash your face, put on skin cream that is made for babies, like Johnson's. It is not oily, will keep your skin fresh, and because it's for babies, there is a less likely chance that you have a mild allergy to it, which might be the reason you have the acne. Also, food doesn't affect acne, despite popular belief.
Reply:buy Murad Supplement Pure Skin Claryfying. You can get it in Sephora for $40 or search online (you can find it cheaper). You will see the huge difference after 1 week of using it.Take two in the morning and 2 before you go to bed.I have the same type of skin as you.

Dont buy proactive.
Reply:i used to have this exact same problem and found out I was allergic to all the fragrance in my shampoo... could be an allergy.
Reply:its probably the wet 'n wild! thats the cheapest crappiest makeup out there!!!!! try bareminerals, its amazing. www.bareminerals.com
Reply:same here, its probly the wetnwild. but just to let u know, food does not affect with acne
Reply:You might also want to try Almay's Clear Complexion foundations and concealers. They're great for clearing up skin. Worked for me...until I came off the pill, now nothing will stop the b*stards!
Reply:It could be a build up of dirt in the pores. I know you wash everyday and I believe you totally but you may want to start Cleansing, Toning and Moisturising. It's a method that you're bound to use when you're older so it's not a bad thing to start it now. Or it could be you're allergic to one of the make-ups or the foundation you use. If it still happens then go and see your doctor :)

XxX
Reply:you should use proactive, i dont know what they could be caused from you would have to go to a dermatoligist to get your skin tested.
Reply:you could just go to a good dermatologist and get treatment using different substances on your face will not help, it might even make it worse
Reply:hormones can do that, i suggest useing an astrigent for sensitive skin and maybe even dropping the foundation and going for a tinted moisturizer(neutrgena) with a loose powder on top to set it, it looks much prettier and more natural anyway!, its what i do and i have yet to have a problem with my skin, maybe it can work you you as well, its worth a try!!!
Reply:Yes check out Arbonne International. If you would like to know more aobut it let me know.
Reply:you should go to a dermalologist to see what the problem is but as far as cleansers, use cetaphil.
Reply:it could be the makeup

i use loreal true match foundation %26amp; powder..doesnt cause anymore pimples on my face

best thing is skip all the OTC products out there like proactiv and just go to a derm. and get a topical from him\her
Reply:I get the same thing have you tried clearasal ultra!!! It works in 3 days!!! (sometimes!!!) lol
Reply:I have to agree w/ the Wet N'Wild foundation......so clogging to the pores......if u can't afford the more expensive products....there are great affordable products....try Basics foaming wash for ur face not the bar of soap...the gel ... its.really nice..also use a toner...like Loreal and moisurize with Cetophil ...(great stuff! used in alot of Dermatologist offices) u can get all of that @ Walgreens or a drug store ....as for ur foundation....u gotta throw that Wet/wild in the trash....try Nuetrogena tinted foundation and loose powder...Bare Minerals like the other girls said.....but if u cant....try this ...good luck!
Reply:it could be from touching your face alot during the day.
Reply:So, I know some special brand from Brazil... the name is Natura if you more information I can help you or if you want do it by urself, just go to www.natura.net.

PIMPLES

Pimples is a unique skin disorder.Pimples are lesions that occur when the skin’s pores are obstructed or infected. They can form for a variety of reasons. However, the mechanism involved in causing some pores to collapse and block drainage of natural oils is not really understood. Pimples may also crop up for genetic reasons. It is not clear how it can be inherited from one’s parents, but studies do indicate a high occurrence of pimples in children whose parents had it,too.

The pimples associated with adolescence almost certainly occur because of hormonal changes that take place during puberty. Both males and females get an overdose of the male hormone testosterone during this period, causing excessive generation of sebaceous fluids that invariably cause pimples.

GIVEN BELOW ARE A FEW SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES TO FIGHT PIMPLES.

1.The most basic form of pimple prevention is hygiene and preventive skin care. Regular washing of the affected areas with mild soap is a must. The soap need not necessarily contain any chemicals designed to prevent pimples .However, face washing should not be overdone or the skin will become dehydrated .

2.Care should be taken on makeup, moisturizers and other skin care products. If these products are oil based,it would just make the problem worse. Use water based products instead.

3.Generally we rub, press or squeeze our pimples.Don’t when we do this,we risk spreading the bacteria to other areas.

4.Lemon juice diluted in water can be applied externally because of its antiseptic

quality.

5.Tea Tree oil can also be applied directly to infected pores.

6.Vitamin A tablets are also a natural and effective cure. Vitamin A promotes healthy skin.

7.Before bathing, apply a mixture of fresh tomato pulp, honey and rose-water to your face and keep for twenty minutes before washing off.

8.Juice of raw papaya is the best treatment for pimples.Apply fresh juice of raw papaya on pimples and get a good result.

9.Directly rub potato slices all over the face, helps to get rid of blemishes and

pimple scar.

10.Drink plenty of water and vegetable or fruit juices.

11.Use cucumber or other fruit and vegetable packs to cure pimple scars.

12.Maintain a diet that is rich in cottage cheese, salads, fresh juices, fish and

yogurt. These help to cleanse your system and ward off pimples.

13.Another overnight home remedy for pimples is to put a dab of toothpaste on it to help dry it out. Calamine lotion also will have the same drying effect.

14.Pound orange peel with water and apply to affected areas.

15.Another useful remedy for pimples is zinc. Which can be taken in a dose of 50 mg daily for a month and then reduce the dose.

16.You can clean your skin with apple cider vinegar as an overnight home pimple remedy.

17.Aspirin contains Beta hydroxy acid which is a powerful defoliant ,so you can crush 1to 2 Aspirin tablets mix with a little water and apply on pimples for 15 minutes and wash.

Finally, certain medications may temporarily alter the hormonal changes prevalent during adolescence and cause pimple outbreaks. If this is the case, a simple adjustment in medication may be all that is required.
Reply:The first thing you should do is to avoid oily food, bakery food, items baked with butter ghee etc so that the extra fatty acids don't deposit on the face or any where else in the body.

Secondly coming to the dark marks on your face you can apply aloevera juice daily twice keep it for half an hour and wash your face. Aloevera is available in nurseries all over the world.
Reply:Apply a mask of low fat pro biotic yogurt on your skin everyday for 20 minutes.
Reply:To avoid pimples and dark marks on your face use condtioners ,toner, moisturiser theropy provided by Artistry.
Reply:Directly rub potato slices all over the face and wash after 30 minutes , if done regularly helps to get rid of blemishes and pimple scar. The most basic form of pimple prevention is hygiene and preventive skin care. More such solutions at http://solutionsforpimples.blogspot.com/

Need a name for face painting business! Help, Please?

My sister and I are starting a face painting business. We refer to what we do as 'Face Art' because we do full faces and masks with detail, using only the highest cosmetic-grade paints available, and not just chintzy cheek art. I would very much appreciate any suggestions for clever, (but to the point) names for our venture. Thank You!!

Transform You Image!

Whenever you make a business name try and keep them short. Signs for cars etc... run by the letter. The Phone Number is already 10 digits. So the cost of long names will greatly increase the amount for signs.

What I would is take a face.. Paint only half of it and use it for advertising. That way people can see EXACTLY what you do. And a picture is worth 1000 words. And with the development of “Do It Yourself” business cards printing a face is pretty easy and cheap.
